The transformative project, managed by Turner, will modernize this historic landmark while preserving its legacy for future generations.

The has broken ground on a $31 million expansion and renovation project that is being managed by Turner Construction Company. The project will revitalize the cultural landmark while preserving its historic integrity.

The project includes 18,000 square feet of new construction and the renovation of approximately 15,000 square feet of existing space. Designed to enhance accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement, the upgrades will feature a fully accessible main entrance, modernized HVAC systems, expanded parking, and improved event and educational facilities. Guests will also enjoy a new café and a larger gift shop to further enrich the visitor experience.

Importantly, the Botanical Gardens will remain open to the public throughout construction. Careful planning will minimize disruption to guests and to the surrounding conservatory. Work is expected to be completed in early 2027.

“We are honored to help create a more accessible, sustainable, and enriching space for all who visit,” said Steven Perrigo, VP & Business Manager at Turner Construction Company. “The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are a cornerstone of the community, and we’re proud to preserve their legacy while building for the future.”
